Jake Vincent was brought up right on the edge of the Somerset Levels just outside of the city of Wells.
Always having had an appreciation for art stemming from his father’s artistic background, he endeavours to bring his own sense of composition and drama to his photographic works. In particular he enjoys trying to convey the scale while at the same time the detail in the landscape through his large panoramic photos.
Jake is entirely self-taught as a Landscape photographer, believing that the best way to learn is through experience - to get to know the land, the season, the light and the photographic techniques involved.
Great care has gone into producing each photograph right through from capture to print. The photographs themselves are fittingly printed on Somerset paper produced locally at St.Cuthberts Paper Mill at Wookey Hole. Only the highest quality materials are used both in printing and in framing.
John is an award-winning wildlife and documentary cameraman with credits on over 60 films, many of which have won awards at festivals – including Wildscreen. In 2008 he received an Emmy nomination for Cinematography for Meerkat Manor.
His spare time is devoted to stills photography, specialising in atmospheric landscapes of his home county of Somerset. There are regular exhibitions of John’s work.
